Victorian Mahogany Secretaire Chiffonier C1850.

This superb quality chiffonier is both practical and decorative. In its design it combines an esssentially simple cabinet base with a fancy fretted upstand and shelf supports, which gives it a unique and stylish appearance. The secretaire drawer opens to reveal a working space ideal for a laptop computer or for traditional letter writing. There is plenty of storage in the shelved cupboard below.

This chiffonier has been well cared for and it has only been necessary to carry out minimal restoration. The carvings have their original finish, and we have revived the remainder of the cabinet with French polish by hand. The writing leather has been replaced.

A practical & interesting piece of furniture for use in a dining room, study or hallway.

C1700 Oak panelled coffer of small proportion.

A fine quality long case clock of good slim proportion with a mahogany case, swan neck pediment, brass capitals to the hood pillars and glazed apertures to the hood sides. The pediment is veneered with birds eye maple with mahogany banding. The movement is 8 day going with hourly strike on a bell, it also has a date and moon phase mechanism. Thomas Barclay is listed in 'Clockmakers and Watchmakers of Scotland' by Donald Whyte and was known to be working between 1811-22. This clock is fully restored with movement overhauled.
